When All in the Family frightened prime time out of its lingering post-
adolescence in January 1971, it heralded a bold new era of sophistication,
intelligence, and sensitivity. By breaking down every established notion
of how TV comedy should be written, performed, edited, and scored, the
series revolutionized the creative community's attitude toward the medium.
By changing the way television looked, All in the Family changed forever
the way we look at television.

1. MEET THE BUNKERS January 12, 1971
A surprise anniversary party is the setting for the latest high-decibel
debate between Archie Bunker and his son-in-law, Michael Stivic.

2. WRITING THE PRESIDENT January 19, 1971
Mike writes a letter to the White House protesting the sorry state of the
Union, prompting Archie to take pen in hand for his own rebuttal.

3. ARCHIE'S ACHING BACK January 26, 1971
