These guys are proficient: They play exceedingly well within the parameters they've defined. What's unfortunate about them and just about every other Corn Belt rock & roll band is an all-enveloping lack of vision. Nothing that bands such as Kansas, R.E.O. Speedwagon and now Head East have offered has even marginally merited the description distinctive. Almost every song sounds the same. Here it's the standard muddle of guitar, bass and drums augmented by keyboards, with everyone sharing the vocal chores. Standard rock progressions, instrumentation and vocals make for music that's very standard.
