Exercise and You
Exercising is not only healthy for you, it also makes you fell better. It is recommended that you get at least 30 minutes a day of exercise every day. This could be as easy as taking a walk in your neighborhood and enjoying nature’s surroundings. You can jog, bike or swim also. If you don’t have 30 minutes at a time, exercise three times a day for 10 minutes each.
Always start exercising slowly and gradually increasing your time and intensity. Don’t push yourself to hard or all at once.
Immediately stop exercising if you feel any cramps, spasms, severe pain, nausea, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, pressure or back pain. If pain persists after you have stopped exercising follow up with your health care provider.
Warm up and cool down properly after exercising, this is extremely important.
Exercise on soft and level surfaces. Uneven or hard surfaces could cause injury to the feet or joints. Your best bets are tracks, grassy fields that are level and dirt paths.
Don’t mix food with exercise. You’ll need to wait at least 2 hours after eating to exercise and 20 minutes after eating to exercise.
If you become sick and cannot exercise for awhile, start back gradually and slowly. Build yourself back up a little everyday.
If you exercise on a road, be sure to use safety precautions. Wear light colored clothing with safety reflectors on them, especially if you are out in the late afternoon. Always face traffic. Never use your Ipod while in traffic. Be aware of what is going on around you.
Use sun block to protect yourself from sunburn and lower your risk of developing skin cancer.
If you exercise by yourself, it’s never a good idea to go into isolated areas. Make sure you have someone with you and that you tell people where you are going and approximately how long you plan on being gone.
Alternate low-intensity and high-intensity workouts. This will help prevent fatigue and overstraining yourself .
Drink plenty of water. This will help keep you hydrated.
After you finish exercising , take a lukewarm bath or shower. A very warm one could run the risk of dizziness or fainting.
Exercising helps you become healthy and feel good about yourself. It also gives your family and friends a good example to follow to become fit and healthy too.
