Deep Breakfast

Which is cool because that’s right about how old I was when I first heard it in 1994. I had it on tape, and missed the CD era. I’ve been thinking about it for a few years and assumed it was lost to time, but today I was doing a sensory deprivation float (for spine purposes, but I’m really enjoying the mental benefits as well) and was thinking about how awesome it would be if I could hear this music in the tank. Where in the world could I possibly ever fiOH. Of course. I’m about to go listen to it for the first time in 25 years, and I bet it will be amazing.

As in, back in the day, before it was called “Molly,” if you had good tabs straight from the chemist, you could put on some Ray Lynch and really enjoy the pure ecstasy on a profound level. I guess I’m happy most people found it as children who weren’t high, though.

My teacher in 9th grade used to play this album while we were writing so that we could get more creative with what we wrote. The first song worked itself into my head so deeply that I went and bought it recently so that I could have it for myself. And soon, Oh of Pleasure tagged along as that song delivers such calming imagery to my mind and just oh goodness I love it!! Buy this album, even if you only have heard two songs on it or all of them! Also, these stories I see of people’s experiences with this album make me love it more!

This cassette and Enya Shepherd Moons were my easy listening favorites when I was a kid. After putting on Enya today, I had to find and buy this album. Brings my calm so easily. Have to share it with my kids now.

It’s obvious this guy is a genius! He created an odd phenomena here! Again an 80s and 90s kid here and one of my first musical experiences with a cassette tape my parents had. And over 15 years later I still remembered the album title and here it is in all of its glory!

i just came across this album this summer, and while i'm only a teenager and have no history with this album, the masterful composition and vibrantly brilliant pieces make me feel as if i've been listening to it forever. love it!!! :)

I love this album it's relaxing and reminds me of good memories when I was in college and enjoying my time in my apartment

My uncle owned this CD and I remember hearing it and loving it as a child. I was very happy to find it here. The Oh of Pleasure and Celestial Soda Pop are favorites but the whole album is gold. Unique sound, pure.

I heard this for the first time on a road trip with my aunt when I was in my 20s I think, and I just loved it! I bought the cd a little while later, and played it for a boyfriend, and it's amazing for making love! Then I lost the cd when I moved and for years forgot about it, till it popped in head and I thought this amazing album called "Breakfast" something...search iTunes for "Breakfast" and just bought it! This album is timeless and gorgeous! Thanks Ray Lynch!

Wow. Just like a few others here, I used to listen to this on an album (really- not even a tape or CD!) as a kid on my parents' stereo. It was my background noise for the complete Sherlock Holmes and The Lord of the Rings and I remember the music to this day. Now it will be during newspapers and my nighttime computer work. Timeless.

I first heard Celestial Soda Pop on NPR back in the early 90’s when they used the song as theme music within their morning All Things Considered news show. Fortunately, the announcer quickly answered my own silent query when, one day, she identified the song and the artist after many listener call-ins asking…”what is that wonderful music?” Needless to say, I headed to Best Buy to buy the CD. I’m listening to it now…with headphones (not the CD - that’s long gone, but a nice download MP3).

After spending years with this melody stuck on my head from relentlessly borrowing my fathers cassette tape of Deep Breakfast as a child, I too came to iTunes to discover that a generation apparently grew up on Ray Lynch....

I see many here listened to this album when they were kids and alas my psychotherapist aunt DID have this album but I wasn't aware until many years later. I was turned on to this music by Art Bell, and his old Dreamland show. "The Oh Of Pleasure" was the opening theme song and the way song mystified me when I first heard it back in 1995 made me purchase this. The record is amazing and I'm really digging this "80's new age meditation / relax" music

I first heard this album in my sophomore year of high school. So taken was I by the song that I spent the following week and a half learning how to play it on piano. 29 years later, I still remember the song, even though the tape was lost 27 years ago. That is, until i went looking for it again on iTunes...surprised puts it mildly.

Same as the other 50 people on here. I lived 26 miles to the nearest city of long windy roads in Northern California. Dad would put this on and we would fall asleep. Phenomenal stuff.

It's funny I never forgot this haunting beautiful album. I actually found an old cassette tape and began to play the tape. Imagine my surprise when I realized I had found a treasure lost. I listened to this album everyday for years continuously in the background sometimes foreground as a music track of my life. The world is a magical. D

It's a good album. Lots of pretty soundscapes. It makes you want to ride a Pegasus over a rainbow and other metaphors as well.

my 4th grade teacher would put this music on softly when we got back from recess to calm us down and get ready for the second part of the day, and I was mesmerized by it and would pay attention to the music instead of my work.So one afternoon I go up to her and ask her what the album was called she said deep breakfast so I go home and listen to the previews and find the song that I wad memorized by celestial soda pop and now it really calms me down .so thanks

This is not "fall asleep in the hot-tub music"…far from it. Well crafted, downright clever and able to challenge the listener without being stuffy and pretentious. It was a sonic teat when it first came out (I have all Ray's records from when they were giant pieces of vinyl and then bought the CDs as soon as they became available) and these days, sounds GREAT on a modern sound system! That "new age" classification might be a bit dated, today this music could fall into several categories and still hold its own.
