They have a similar style to the Stylistics, but still unique in a way. Both have the "high tenor" lead vocal, and have excellent background harmonies. Blue Magic was one of those powerful R&B ballad groups (like Stylistics) that really "gripped" you when you heard their music. They don't make groups like this anymore, which is so sad!! Today's singers are all "plugged up" with auto-tunig, and a bunch of technical crap, which really proves that they cannot sing!! These guys, however, are genuine singers!! I know we are no longer in the 70's, so I know music has changed for the past 40 yeears, but that does not mean that the music quality has to go down as we go further into the future!! Advice for you younger singers: LISTEN TO GROUPS LIKE BLUE MAGIC AND STYLISTICS AND REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW THEY SING AND LEARN FROM THEM!! THEY MAKE MUSIC, NOT AUTO-CRAP!!!!

Great music, great era, great memories....being a little boy and staying up late while my brothers and sister partied with their friends in my living room in the projects.

When I listen to Blue Magic's songs (Side Show, Just Don't Want To Be Lonely), I quickly become overcome with heavy emotions. The music never ceases to amaze me... the clarity of sound, the eloquence and poetic way the lyrics flowed, the smooth, tranquil blend of the background vocal harmony. The song's told a story and painted a vivid picture, one that I can still visualize. Each song stands alone, and rises like a momument. Classic, historical, inspiring. And then comes the part about remembering where you were, what you were doing, who you were with back then, as the song played. In my opinion, Blue Magic is indeed a "Hall Of Fame" group that created wonderfully unforgettable music which will always have a place deep in my heart. If my may employ a cliche, "they don't make 'em like that anymore".

It's unbelievable that there's only one review for this wonderful album. I guess you have to be a former disco lover, as this was one of the albums of that era, and it NEVER gets old. For those who have Sirius, many of the stations play music that was released years ago (different genres, of course), and Blue Magic is a favorite in many categories...70's, classic disco and more. For me, this album brings back so many wonderful memories, and I still know every word to every song. I have the original album (that's "vinyl" to you young kids out there). It is truly timeless music, just like you youngsters listen to Madonna music that was released in the 80's...nothing wrong with that. Great music never dies, just reintroduced to newer generations of music fans. Buy one song, and you'll be back for the rest.
