  • Another wind recording masterpiece...

Leave it to the Marine Band to pull off another outstanding set of adapted wind transcriptions that rival the original full symphony orchestral versions. Duker's wind arrangement of The Pines of Rome has never sounded better on record, the sweeping rendition of Chadwick's Jubilee is technically and musically outstanding, and Colonel Bourgeois' own transcription of Hongroise is played with style, accuracy, and flawless interpretation. I don't mean to leave out Kozhevnikov's original wind piece, Symphony No. 3...another stirring and exciting performance. Overall, a perfect example of why so many are in love with the wind ensemble medium, from Sousa's time to today.
