Given recent events of the big day album chance the rappers old work is leaps and bounds better than his newer work, this album really explores everything I think Chance is good at his voice, his flow is very flavorful in a sense and the stories most of the songs hold and how catchy the hooks are really lead to a extremely fun and altogether good album all things considered. But the album has some loose tracks and some of the problems I have with it are my own personal tastes but with things like the intro song “that’s love” the song is good, but it becomes very repetitive and kinda washes together with his very simple and basic flow. Might’ve worked better had he experimented more on this album as a debut.

the only good songs on this album are cocoa butter kisses favorite songs and chain smoker. but the thing is is those songs are absouloute BANGERS

It’s super dope. I’ve been listening to it since forever. One of the greatest albums I’ve ever owned.

This is and always will be Chance’s best work. Not to say that the big day or coloring book is bad by any means. I love them both (the big day could be better but I’m not tryna be one of the people who never stops complaining about it) but acid rap and it’s pure freedom accompanied with the passion that Chance exudes throughout the album is something unlike the industry has ever seen. The broken up and totally free sound of this, as well as the low budget that it was made on, gives this album a feel that keeps vibes going every time a track is listened to. Coloring book is still chance, but it’s more refined and cleaned up due to its higher budget. Coloring book is another album that I believe deserves hella praise, but acid rap is just a slapper all around that has more soul and depth than any album I’ve listened to, all the while keeping things bouncy and boppin. And on the occasions when it’s more serious such as the songs acid rain and paranoia, chance delivers the lines that were expertly crafted in such a manner that resonates with the listener and really makes them think through them, even after hearing them 100 times. All the songs, Chain smoker, Pusha man, Cocoa butter Kisses, and even the intro and the outro are something so special and they’ll always slap no matter how many times I hear them. I love this album through and through, and I hold it to the highest regard. Nothing but love for chance. Igh!

Some of these people need to understand that this mixtape came out 5+ years ago, it’s not something he just came out with and before he was mainstream so he likely didn’t have access to top notch recording equipment. Anyways, acid rap will ALWAYS be a classic.

Beats, rhymes, and continuity from song to song are all Chance at the top of his game

Chance has a playfulness that makes his music sound off the cuff until he hits ya with thought provoking music. The only artist who can sing flat, but it is perfect. He is the Tracey Morgan of music, where you think you are laughing at him, but you are actually laughing with him. Will always love this album.

I’ve seen 1 star reviews for everything from him harmonizing (which he’s always done) to him taking so long to drop his next album, even tho every project has been released as a mixtape that he’s done so far and his next one is his DEBUT. Honestly I’ve listened to this project for years and love it and I normally wouldn’t review at all but this one is fire and put me on to NoName so I’ll leave love if only to counter some of the bs reviews I’ve seen. Keep doing your thing young king!
