Interesting Official Products From 70s Rock Legends

Any rock band from the 70s that can still find recognition today has undoubtedly made a big cultural mark, and more than a few have cashed in with merchandise and special releases. Some bands go a few steps further, though, and put their name to some truly unique creations. Here are a few of the most interesting rock band products that have been out on the market.

Kiss Coffins

We're starting out with one of the more bizarre and most infamous examples of licensed products perhaps going a little too far. As a band with a brand, Kiss have one of the biggest selling points out there with their over-the-top makeup and on-stage antics. The brand itself recently got sold along with music rights for a massive $300 million which shows just how enduring they've been over the last 50 years.

Kiss Band On Stage

It's no surprise that the band's famous faces have been plastered across a lot of different products in their time, but the Kiss Kasket is easily the most bizarre. A full, custom-built coffin decorated with Kiss imagery and photos, it is still in production today and most notably has been used for both Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul of Pantera. Prices aren't advertised but we'd expect these to set you back a few thousand at minimum.

Motorhead Slots

While they have an extensive library of music under their collective belts, Motorhead will forever be associated with cards and gambling thanks to the legendary Ace of Spades. Unsurprisingly, casino developers and companies saw a great chance for a partnership and Motorhead are now the faces of several different casino games.

The original slot from NetEnt is by far the most common and appears across casino sites all the way up to Bitcoin casinos dedicated to playing with cryptocurrency. In this and other iterations, the band's full music library and iconography are on display and it's obvious that great care has been taken in crafting it. More than that, given how popular the games have been, we can expect more on the way.

Aerosmith Taiyaki

If you're reading this wondering 'what is a taiyaki?', don't worry as you won't be the only one. The taiyaki is a traditional Japanese dessert item, a kind of pastry decorated to look like a fish and filled with sweet bean paste. The question then has to be asked, what do Aerosmith have to do with it? Well, in short, the band loves them to an insane degree.

Brown Cookies On Table

For that reason, the band teamed up with famous store chain Naruto Taiyaki Honpo to release a special apple-filled version in honor of their 50-year album release anniversary. It was available for a limited time late last year in stores across Japan, and despite the celebrity tie-in, they actually managed to keep prices low, to the equivalent of a few dollars each. These certainly won't be the last unusual items put out there by older rock bands. The next step is waiting a few decades to see if today's bands go down the same route!
