The General's room is fitted out as the civil war room as any General would have his home decorated. A pair of wingback chairs flanks the queen-sized bed. The ambience of the room is completed with the decor fit for any civil war historian. Mountain Memories Situated on top of one of Georgia's famous mountains, Mountain Memories bed and breakfast offers a majestic view of the Georgian mountains. From the gazebo, your room or out on the deck, the only word to describe the view of the sunsets or lake Chatuge, is magnanimous Fall in love all over again on a romantic getaway in one of the six rooms or even a private cabin. The Lovers Suite holds a white washed, pencil post king bed with a bedside Armoire. The complete lovers fantasy comes complete with terry robes, candles and a rubber ducky. Decorated in green and burgundy, the Southern Pine Suite boasts a four-poster king bed, sleeper sofa and coffee table. The first two-room suite we encounter is the Sunset Suite. A queen sized bed and ruffled end tables occupy one room with a futon, coffee and end tables in the other. No mountain retreat would be without a self-named room, so we now enter the Mountain Mist Suite. Joining the queen-sized bed is the armoire and chaise lounge and two-person shower. The last of the rooms is the Queen Anne Suite. Upon entering we notice the queen bed alcove and sleeper sofa. This mountain resort also has cabins to rent. Stone Creek Cabin has the authentic look of a log house as the settlers lived in. Hiawasse Heights Cabin offers a panoramic view of the mountains of Georgia. The View cabin lives up to its name, as the majesty of the sights is breathtaking. Bring a video camera because that is the only way you will be able to explain the view. All the cabins offer an unobstructed view of Lake Chatuge and the flowing Georgia countryside. Mountain Laurel Inn Hidden high in the mountain near Mentone, Alabama is Mountain Laurel Inn. By using the rustic look, Mountain Laurel Inn blends in with the surroundings on Lookout Mountain. This is a hikers dream. Full sized windows put forward breathtaking views of the surrounding woods, or just relax in one of the rocking chairs on the porch. There is even a separate guesthouse with a number of rooms, every one with its own separate entrance. One of the more exclusive features of Mountain Laurel is the coffee placed outside each guest's door. Levy-East House When you think of Louisiana, the first picture is of a French style of architecture. The Levy-East House bed and breakfast however is a three-story Greek revival structure. Located in the historic Natchitoches landmark district, it was recently totally restored and renovated. The antique furnishings that adorn the building throughout were in the home for over one hundred years. At first glance one would expect to see the plantation owner, dressed in his white suit and walking stick to be sitting on the expansive front porch sipping mint Juleps and instructing the staff in their daily duties. Each of the rooms is adorned with period furnishings and lush appointments. We have seen the outside but now it is time to check out our sleeping accommodations. Our first stop is the Wendy Lynette Suite. Taking center stage is the enlarged bed with the hand crocheted quilt. All the furnishings are Victorian walnut. A bed designed for royalty is matched with a marble top dresser and armoire. Enter the private bath and enjoy the whirling waters of the Jacuzzi. Ascending the stairs to the third floor we enter the Vintage Rose Suite. The antique walnut bed and dresser have been in the family for over 100 years. The lace curtains on the windows accent the soft ambience of the room. The Judy Colette Suite displays fabulous Eastlake furnishings circa 1880. A ceiling to floor crown canopy presents the antique bed in all of its finery. Also on the third floor we encounter the Cottage Suite. In the parlor is the television and wet bar allows a most cordial welcome to your guests. Fashioned after an English cottage we find furnishing of wicker. The queen-size bed is draped with a duvet cover and pillows and presents a view of the large magnolia tree situated just outside the window. Lazy L Taking a page out of western naming conventions, the Lazy L in Willow Creek, Delaware was built specifically as a bed and breakfast. The Lazy L is ideal for the birdwatcher in you. The marsh comes alive with Eagles, Osprey, and Herons. Enjoy nature's beauty from the screen porch or indoor lounge. This three-story delight is also pet friendly. Old world charm is displayed throughout your experience in the great north. Guests are welcomed in the welcome room on the main floor with its grand piano and period architecture. As you step into the formal dining room you will imagine you have entered a chalet on the Alps. This feeling carries through to the living room and the candlelit marble fireplace. This is a popular workshop. The Homespun Inn The Midwest is the breadbox of the world. It is also home to farmers and just regular folk. Stained glass windows add a prism effect on sunny mornings. Each of the two parlors on the main floor have an ongoing jigsaw puzzle or just select a book for some relaxing reading. Making this inn unique are the guest rooms named in honor of the original 1902 occupants. Frank and Alma Brown's room is named after the original owners. The 1886 bank of Oberlin has been converted into the modern bed and breakfast now called the Landmark Inn. The name even celebrates two major events, the opening of the US land office and the founding of the bank of Oberlin. Each of the rooms celebrates a special landmark or person in Oberlin or Kansas history. Meals are served in the teller room restaurant. After the bank failed, the building became the county courthouse. In honor of this, we have the Judges Chambers Suite. Mauve, green and purple wallpaper and curtains surround the tall walnut queen-sized bed. A Victorian settee completes the bedroom and a claw foot tub occupies the bath. Named after the founder of the bank, the R.A. Marks Suite has a spoon carved queen-sized bedroom set. There is also a vintage Murphy bed. Named after the furniture style of the room, the Cottage Victorian Suite is filled with stenciled pine furnishings. The antique appearing gas fireplace lends its name to The Fireside Suite. Here we find a full sized canopy bed and a bath covered with antique advertising items. There is also a sitting room with Victorian furniture. The Carriage house Suite is a two-room suite with a mission style queen-size bed. The sitting room is adorned with wicker furniture and a second pull down bed. The Ad Astra Suite is so named because of the state motto, "To the stars through difficulties." Fully handicap accessible, this room is done in blues and mauves. Whatever the reason, you won't be disappointed. Old School The Old School Bed and Breakfast of Arnegard, North Dakota, is a unique place to stay. It was one literally a schoolhouse. In 1963, due mainly to waning enrollment, the county voted to close the high school. Elementary classes were held at the school until 1976 when the school was closed for good. A small time afterward, the building was deeded to the city of Arnegard. Some time after that, the city deeded the building and a portion of the school grounds to a group known as The Friends and Alumni of the Old School. During the period that this group owned the facility, there was a roller skating rink, rural library and meeting areas located within the building. It has undergone a great deal of restoration and renovation for the purpose of housing a Bed & Breakfast. All room offer a Jucuzzi whirlpool tub and Select Comfort Sleep Number beds. In addition to the four room, Primary Grades, Lower Grades, Intermediate Grades and Upper Grades, the Old School Bed and Breakfast offers a game room, library, media room and reading room.
