Munro Mansion

The historic Greek revival Munro Mansion bed and breakfast was once a station
on the Underground Railroad. Steeped in history, Munro mansion is located on
the famous Old Sauk trail. Relax playing the on site grand piano, find a good
book in the library or just enjoy the resident Scottish Terriers. Each of the
guest rooms is unique.

George's Room features a wood frame queen-sized bed. After stepping out of the
two-person Jacuzzi, settle in by the gas fireplace for a carefree evening of
cable television. The furnishings also include two comfortable wingback chairs.

Clara's room is complete with a queen-sized bed and a double Jacuzzi. Period
furniture, including a writing desk completes the ambience. The wooden bed in
Alyce's room has a floor to ceiling curtain that accents the pink quilt.
Although modernized, the furnishings give the feel of a pre civil war era.

On the ground floor for those that find it difficult to manage stairs is
Julia's room. The crystal chandelier will dazzle even in the daylight hours
because of the two corner windows. We find here a queen-sized sleigh bed and
business writing desk and private bath. Enjoy your morning coffee on the
outside porch or take the chill of the evening off in front of the fireplace.

Margaret's room features a queen-sized four-poster bed. The ambience is
complete with period furniture. The Cottage room is furnished in the classic
English cottage style with a queen-sized bed and private bath. Sit back and
relax in the wicker rocker by the warmth of the fireplace.

The General's room is fitted out as the civil war room as any General would
have his home decorated. A pair of wingback chairs flanks the queen-sized bed.
The ambience of the room is completed with the decor fit for any civil war
historian. 

Mountain Memories

Situated on top of one of Georgia's famous mountains, Mountain Memories bed and
breakfast offers a majestic view of the Georgian mountains. From the gazebo,
your room or out on the deck, the only word to describe the view of the sunsets
or lake Chatuge, is magnanimous Fall in love all over again on a romantic
getaway in one of the six rooms or even a private cabin.

The Lovers Suite holds a white washed, pencil post king bed with a bedside
Armoire. The complete lovers fantasy comes complete with terry robes, candles
and a rubber ducky. A sleeper sofa accentuates the romantic king bed and the
gas log fireplace. But no room is complete without the rubber ducky. Decorated
in green and burgundy, the Southern Pine Suite boasts a four-poster king bed,
sleeper sofa and coffee table. The first two-room suite we encounter is the
Sunset Suite. A queen sized bed and ruffled end tables occupy one room with a
futon, coffee and end tables in the other. No mountain retreat would be without
a self-named room, so we now enter the Mountain Mist Suite. Joining the
queen-sized bed is the armoire and chaise lounge and two-person shower. The
last of the rooms is the Queen Anne Suite. Upon entering we notice the queen
bed alcove and sleeper sofa.

This mountain resort also has cabins to rent. Stone Creek Cabin has the
authentic look of a log house as the settlers lived in. Hiawasse Heights Cabin
offers a panoramic view of the mountains of Georgia. The View cabin lives up to
its name, as the majesty of the sights is breathtaking. Bring a video camera
because that is the only way you will be able to explain the view. All the
cabins offer an unobstructed view of Lake Chatuge and the flowing Georgia
countryside. 

Mountain Laurel Inn

Hidden high in the mountain near Mentone, Alabama is Mountain Laurel Inn. By
using the rustic look, Mountain Laurel Inn blends in with the surroundings on
Lookout Mountain. This is a hikers dream. Full sized windows put forward
breathtaking views of the surrounding woods, or just relax in one of the
rocking chairs on the porch. There is even a separate guesthouse with a number
of rooms, every one with its own separate entrance.

One of the more exclusive features of Mountain Laurel is the coffee placed
outside each guest's door. After the morning eye opener, step into the dining
room for a full sized breakfast that starts with a variety of breads and
continues with everything from breakfast pizza to decadent French toast.

The wildflower room celebrates the well-known wildflowers of the region. Spring
is brought out by the large quantity of Mountain Laurel and Lady Slippers.
Alabama has only one ski slope and it is shown in the motif of the ski room.
The wildlife neighbors are well represented in the deer room, including
Canadian Geese and wild turkeys. Come to the bridal room for your first or
fiftieth honeymoon. This room is next door to the Mentone Wedding chapel. For
parties of three there is the apartment room upstairs. This is the only two
room groupings on hand. In the primary room is a queen-sized bed but a trundle
bed and kitchenette is in the other room.

Full enjoyment of the area is complete with hiking and biking. For the more
adventurous, take hold of a pair of the bikes that are on hand or go by
horseback to do some sightseeing. Check out the loads of antique stores and
take home gifts for all or just a few keepsakes as a reminder of a wonderful
vacation.

Lost Creek Ranch and Spa

Located between Grand Teton National Park and Bridger Teton Forest, in Wyoming,
is an incredible family vacation spot called Lost Creek Ranch and Spa. Your
vacation will start off right with the complimentary transportation they offer
from the nearby airport. Rates for the ten cabins and twenty rooms include all
meals. That is just the beginning.

Children under the age of six stay completely free and staff will provide cribs
upon request. During the day, there are supervised children's activities so the
adults may enjoy some time on their own. Activities include a heated pool,
whirlpool, exercise equipment, tennis, hayrides, lawn games and a game room.
Ridding instruction is available for both children and adults.

The spa offers a sauna and team room as well as massage. What a wonderful way
to spend the evening after a long day of vigorous activity.

Each of the cabins includes a private porch, refrigerators and fireplaces.
Picnic tables provide a nice outdoor experience for the whole family. The staff
will also do your laundry free of charge so you can spend your time doing more
enjoyable things.

Dinners are served family style and offer two choices each evening. Breakfast
can be either a full continental one or your choice from a large menu. Lunch is
served buffet style and offers a large variety of choices. Kids can either eat
with their parents or enjoy a special kid's dinner with their newly found
friends. They have a special menu of kid-favored food to choose from with the
second option.

Not only is the staff highly trained in their particular occupation, but Lost
Creek Ranch offers something found rarely elsewhere, a one to one staff and
guest ratio. No matter what you need or want, there is always someone ready and
willing to accommodate your wishes.

Levy-East House

When you think of Louisiana, the first picture is of a French style of
architecture. The Levy-East House bed and breakfast however is a three-story
Greek revival structure. Located in the historic Natchitoches landmark
district, it was recently totally restored and renovated. The antique
furnishings that adorn the building throughout were in the home for over one
hundred years.

At first glance one would expect to see the plantation owner, dressed in his
white suit and walking stick to be sitting on the expansive front porch sipping
mint Juleps and instructing the staff in their daily duties. Each of the rooms
is adorned with period furnishings and lush appointments. We have seen the
outside but now it is time to check out our sleeping accommodations.

Our first stop is the Wendy Lynette Suite. Taking center stage is the enlarged
bed with the hand crocheted quilt. All the furnishings are Victorian walnut. A
bed designed for royalty is matched with a marble top dresser and armoire.
Enter the private bath and enjoy the whirling waters of the Jacuzzi.

Ascending the stairs to the third floor we enter the Vintage Rose Suite. The 
antique walnut bed and dresser have been in the family for over 100 years. The 
lace curtains on the windows accent the soft ambience of the room.

The Judy Colette Suite displays fabulous Eastlake furnishings circa 1880. A
ceiling to floor crown canopy presents the antique bed in all of its finery.
Also on the third floor we encounter the Cottage Suite.

In the parlor is the television and wet bar allows a most cordial welcome to
your guests. Fashioned after an English cottage we find furnishing of wicker.
The queen-size bed is draped with a duvet cover and pillows and presents a view
of the large magnolia tree situated just outside the window. 

Lazy L

Taking a page out of western naming conventions, the Lazy L in Willow Creek,
Delaware was built specifically as a bed and breakfast. The Lazy L is ideal for
the birdwatcher in you. The marsh comes alive with Eagles, Osprey, and Herons.
Enjoy nature's beauty from the screen porch or indoor lounge. This three-story
delight is also pet friendly.

There are five spacious rooms in addition to a private cottage. The Nature Room
is above average in size for a bed and breakfast. With a queen sized sleigh bed,
it offers a superb view of Red Mill Creek. On the second floor is the Lighthouse
room. In addition to the large double windows for an excellent view, there is an
alcove in which to store your beach gear. Also on the second floor is the
Mermaid room and shares two rooms with the others on this floor. From here you
are offered an excellent view at the front of the Lazy L. On the lower level is
the Key West Room.

Adjacent to the Key West room is a large sitting area and a walk out patio that
it shares with the Flamingo room. The lounge area of the Flamingo room comes
complete with all the kitchen amenities. Sit on the deck and enjoy the sunrise
or just enjoy the ducks out on the creek. Unique to the Lazy L is a small
private cottage lovingly called Cottage in the Dog Run.

The full sized complimentary breakfast includes such luxuries as quiche and
crepes along side the full compliment of fruits and breads. After a hearty
breakfast, head down to the creek and spend the day kayaking. If you prefer the
less intimidating activities a heated swimming pool, hot tub, and pool table are
provided. To complete the nature enjoyment, a picnic area is also provided.

Lake View Cottage

Lake View Cottage is a traditional bed and breakfast Inn located in the
foothills of the White Mountains, between the Lakes Region and Mount Washington
Valley, just south of Conway and North Conway. Here you can experience the
romance of a getaway weekend with luxurious candlelight breakfasts and Jacuzzis
in a number of the rooms. Silver Lake, New Hampshire offers beautiful sunsets.

Grampa David's Room has a king size bed canopy bed, antique period furniture
including an oak armoire. From the sitting room you may step out onto the porch
with a glorious view of the lake where you may enjoy being served breakfast
weather permitting. The large bath includes a two person Jacuzzi , separate
shower and reproduction fixtures.

Grampa Earle's Room, on the second floor, has a sitting room, a queen size bed,
antique floral wallpaper in greens and rose with detailed painting of the
woodwork and brass door hardware. The private bath has a corner Jacuzzi for two
and a separate shower. This is the best view in the house where you can wake up
to the crimson sunrise over the lake.

Helen's Room, also on the second floor, sunny yellow was used for this bright
room with windows on three sides. The wicker furniture and details contribute
to the airy feeling of this queen size bedroom. A photo of Aunt Helen's cat,
Chippy, watches over you while you sleep. The large bath has a shower big
enough for two including two showerheads and two seats!!

The Rose Room has a queen size sleigh bed with a view overlooking the lake and
gardens. The reproduction wallpaper in this room matches the original. The
brand new bath has a four foot jetted shower and reproduction fixtures.

The Lake View Cottage is truly a paradise for romantics or those who are
romantic at heart.

Lake Placid Lodge

Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Placid, in New York, this is the
perfect spot for couples on their honeymoon-or for men (or women) who want to
pop the question. He staff here will gladly help make this the most memorable
experience of a lifetime.

This lakeside lodge is a charming Adirondack retreat. Built in the 1920's at or
near the water's edge, these cabins have all been skillfully renovated to
include king or queen-size featherbeds, large stone fireplaces, sitting areas,
pleasing to the eye rustic furniture and wet bars. All have lush bathrooms,
with enormous soaking tubs and spacious separate showers. Gigantic picture

cabin's private porch is fringed by a small, tumbling brook. The room has a
vast hand-crafted stone fireplace and a king-size featherbed shaped from a
tree. In the vast bathroom, there is a two-person jacuzzi jet tub, a dry sauna,
and a six-headed steam shower. This spacious, one-room suite is the most
luxurious and romantic.

Inn on the River

An extraordinary visit awaits you at the Inn on the River in Glen Rose, Texas.
We all know Texans like to do everything in a big way and this extends to their

Moose don't have their own bed and breakfasts, or do they? Don't be surprised
to find these Alaskan natives visiting Highland Glen Lodge in Anchorage,

Genoa House Inn

Historic Genoa, near Lake Tahoe and Carson City in the foothills of the Sierra

Fox Manor

Fox Manor Historic Bed & Breakfast Inn is located in Kingsport, Tennessee. Upon
arrival, you will become aware of the original carriage steps used by passengers
to disembark from their horse-drawn carriages. This is your earliest hint that
you have arrived at a truthfully only one of its kind and historic inn. Eight
cozy fireplaces, eleven ceiling fans, central air conditioning, complimentary
wireless high speed internet, a quiet parlor for reading or watching
television, candlelight breakfast, afternoon tea, and a wonderful dessert gift
shop are all features of this wondrous inn. Each room features plush down
comforters, thick robes, queen or king sized beds, wine buckets, ironing

Guests are invited to enjoy afternoon refreshments at the authentic 300 year-old
English Pub Bar. This wonderful room is furnished with plush leather sofas, a
big screen television and a 28-foot hand-painted wall mural. The Parlor offers
quiet Victorian elegance and the warm glow of fire. For quieter moments, the
Library has a cozy fireplace and a large selection of books and magazines.
There is a television with VCR, and a wonderful music system with surround
sound. The ceiling in the Dining Room was painted by a professional artist who
captured both the design and color scheme in the fabrics and wall coverings.
The vast china and teapot collection gathered on travels abroad is displayed in
the built in cabinets.

Deutshce Strasse

Old world charm is marvelously reflected in this building built in the Frank
Lloyd Wright style. Deutshce Strasse Bed and Breakfast is the 1884 home that
was renovated in 1915. Old world charm is displayed throughout your experience
in the great north. Guests are welcomed in the welcome room on the main floor
with its grand piano and period architecture. As you step into the formal
dining room you will imagine you have entered a chalet on the Alps. This
feeling carries through to the living room and the candlelit marble fireplace.
As you mount the stairs to your room, you will forget you are in Minnesota.

The king size bed with the ornate scrolled metal head and footboards may not
indicate this is the Castle room but the suit of armor in the sitting area for
two gives it away. The private bath comes complete with a pedestal bath and
rain shower.

The Crystal room boasts a queen-sized antique brass bed. Crystal accents
complete the room's ambience. Step into the two-person whirlpool tub with the
original ceramic floor and wall tile. This room was originally the master room.

The queen-sized four-poster bed is most prominent in the Flower room. Even the
headboard has flowers. We find, in the private bath, a shower and an original
pedestal sink.

Ivy outlines the canopy frame of the queen-sized bed in the Ivy room. Grab a
book and cuddle up by the fireplace on the cool evenings. The private bath
includes a shower with three showerheads that is referred to as a full-body
shower.

The Black Forest room is two rooms decorated with items from the black forest
region of Germany. This room also boasts a full bath and a room with a hot tub
and fireplace. Don't miss the cuckoo clock on the wall in this room! 

Clifton -- The Country Inn

Charlottesville, Virginia, is home to the elegantly landscaped grounds of
Clifton -- The Country Inn. This 1799 country inn exudes southern refinement
with its uniquely decorated rooms and gracious service.

Every one of the fourteen of the room are filled with antiques, have wood
burning fireplaces and views of the manicured grounds and private lake. A
complimentary full breakfast will start any visitor's day off on a positive

Clifton's three Livery Cottages were fashioned from an original dependency on
the property. The building offers a huge deck, ideal for taking in the view of
the private lake. Each of these rooms features a separate sitting area and
exceptional antique soaking tubs in the restrooms.

If you choose to wander off the grounds, you can take a tour of Monticello, go
horseback riding, enjoy a walking tour of the historic downtown Charlottesville
area, take in a game of golf or do some rafting. The possibilities are endless.
One thing you won't want to miss is a tour of the multitude of vineyards in the
area. This tour alone is a day long event and well worth the time. Some of the
state's finest vineyards call this area home. 

Chateau Du Sureau

A fairy tale awaits you in Oakhurst, California, just minutes from Yosemite in
the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas at Chateau du Sureau. Everything from the
European style stucco building to the life-sized chess board will evoke a
feeling of being transported to another place and time. Wrought iron gates
emblazoned with the Château's elegant crest open to reveal the stately 9000
square foot stucco Inn, complete with a stone turret, Parisian balconies and
shuttered windows, all on nine acres of meticulously landscaped park grounds.
Walking paths, fountains, a swimming pool, a bocce court and a life-size chess
set add to the natural cachet and charm of the area. Once inside, guests are
quickly enveloped in the Château's extraordinary European hospitality. It was
Erna's desire to bring the traditions and hospitality of Europe's grand houses
to the States and she has truly captured it here. Chambermaids, attired in
black dress and white linen aprons, present baskets of refreshments and tea.
There is no front desk, no check in, no credit card imprinting (only a hand
written bill discreetly presented before guests leave) and no televisions in
the guest's rooms. Each guest room is individually decorated and named for
restorative herbs that can be found growing on the property. Erma's Elderberry
House, one of the finest restaurants, is located on the property for your
dining pleasure.

The Chateau du Sureau offers a complimentary full breakfast to each guest and
also provides coffee in each room. Besides the ten rooms within the main
building, there is also a two bedroom villa available for those who wish more
privacy.

Casa Escondida

Chimayo, New Mexico is home to the lovely Casa Escondida. Situated in a
sheltered, country location, Casa Escondida ("hidden house") is in addition
handy to historic Santa Fe, quaint Taos, the ancient ruins of Bandelier
National Park, the cultural magnificence of Native American pueblos, soothing
hot springs, inspiring landscapes of Abiquiu and many other wonderful sites.

Every one of the rooms is filled with handpicked antiques and accented in a
rustic southwest style. Some rooms offer amenities such as an antique wood
stove, private patio, fireplace, private deck or oversized bathtub.
Architectural elements, such as kiva fireplaces, wooden tongue & groove
ceilings, saltillo tile floors and wooden vigas, all add to the warmth and
rustic charm of Casa Escondida, which is fairly similar to a southwestern
country inn. Four of the eight guest rooms are set to allow pets.

Casita Escondida is a comfy, one-bedroom, adobe suite detached from the main
house. It provides the ideal private retreat. At night, take pleasure in the
glow of your living room kiva fireplace. It has one queen bed in the sleeping
area as well as, one daybed in the living area that converts into two twin beds
if desirable. The living area also features a full kitchenette and access to a
private deck with quaint views of pastures and foothills. Saltillo tile floors
and vigas communicate the feel of old New Mexico. Just the thing for extended
stays or families. They gladly provide puppy-perks. Upon arrival, you will
discover a delectable doggie treat awaiting you, in your room. During your
stay, your dog can indulge in a "bottomless bag of biscuits". Just ask your
human for refills. If you forget your pet bed, a rug will gladly be provided.
No deposit is required, but an extra fifteen dollars per night is charged.

Canoe Bay

Rice Lake, Wisconsin is home to the beautiful Canoe Bay. This secluded 280-acre
wilderness spot may seem an unlikely place for luxury at its finest, but this
resort delivers just that.

Guests can choose between one of the five rooms within the main building, a
four-room lodge or one of the several cabins available. All exhibit either
Adirondack or Frank Lloyd Wright inspired decor. Each is also located in either
a completely wooded or lake view area. The exceptional restaurant provides
breakfast in bed, gourmet lunch baskets and a daily changing four-course dinner
menu.

All rooms come complete with TV, cable and VCR and some include a refrigerator
and microwave. Coffee is provided in all rooms. Activities include picnic
tables along the lake, cross country skiing, golf, ice-skating, exercise
equipment and a spa. Equipment is provided for kayaking, canoeing and row

The Inn is the go-to spot in the evening, where you'll find the best food in
the region served in their lakeside Dining Room. Sneak a peek, too, at their
extensive red wine collection on display in the gorgeous Wine Cellar Room.

Cottages offer extreme privacy; choose stand-alone or duplex-style. All
accommodations are fully outfitted with fireplace, private deck, King bed,
whirlpool-for-two, audio/video system, and mini-fridge. And direct lake views
are the rule!

No children are allowed at this facility, so it is a perfect adult getaway for
couples that need some time alone together. Romance is never more alive than in

Blueberry Pointe on the Lake

Chepachet, Rhode Island is a beautiful place. Blueberry Pointe on the Lake fits

mattress, designer linens and towels, and a famed gourmet breakfast. They

Birds flourish on Sand Dam Reservoir in the summer. The protection of the lake
becomes a meeting place for mallards and geese. The kingfisher dives into the

wind after victorious frog feasts.
Blueberry Pointe land is bordered by Nature Conservancy land which links acres
of woodlands to neighboring ponds, wetlands, and forests all the way to the

The Sunrise Suite is a bright accommodation with a separate private bath, tub
and dual showerheads. The bedroom and sitting area has a queen size bed strewn
with plush pillows. A TV with DVD and a stereo system are included for your
enjoyment. One special amenity in the Sunrise Suite is this antique cast iron
faux fireplace on a tiled hearth surrounded by a custom built mahogany mantel.

The spacious Moonlight Suite is located on the second floor of the main house
and comprises the master bedroom, a private bath, and a sitting area/library.
The Master Suite is lit by a wall of windows capped by a large half-round. The
view to the grounds and the lake beyond is inviting yet promotes privacy.

These are just two of the rooms available at the Blueberry Pointe. There is a
room to suit nearly every preference.

Blue Heron Inn

Idaho is more than just mines and potatoes. Located on the south fork of the
Snake River is The Blue Heron Inn. It's rustic exterior gives way to unmatched
luxury and hospitality. Many of the neighbors will be seen walking by, such as
moose and deer. Making their home in the nearby woods one can find Squirrels,
Marmots, raccoons, beavers and foxes. It is not uncommon to see Blue Herons
fishing for their next meal in the nearby Snake River or see eagles and osprey
flying overhead. Nothing about Idaho is small as can be seen by the size of the
rooms at the Blue Heron Inn.

The namesake room, The Blue Heron Suite is larger than some houses, or so it
appears. The king size bed in the center of the room facing the French doors
takes up less than a quarter of the space. For those chilly Idaho nights there
is even a river rock fireplace.

At first glance, the decor of the Canyon Suite is reminiscent of the southwest.
One is reminded of the Navajo when the king sized bed is first viewed. The
French doors open to a private balcony allowing breathtaking views of the south
fork of the Snake River.

The ducks of the same name inspired the Mallard room. A handmade quilt adorns
the log bed and is accompanied by the pine furniture. For a more private
retreat, the Carriage house is a second floor room attached to the innkeeper's
residence. Since we are in the west, the Bunkhouse Suite is expected. You will
think you've stepped into history with all the log furnishings. The handcrafted
pine queen sized bed is the centerpiece of the Southfork Suite. Idaho's state
bird is honored in the Blue Bird Suite. Here we find a brass bed with a marble
topped dresser.

Big Island Mountain View Inn

The surf and sand may define Hawaii, but it was the volcano's that created
these paradise islands. The largest of the islands also has the longest name of
its resort, Big Island Hawaii Bed and Breakfast Mountain View Inn. We are
stopping at a four-acre garden and fishpond estate in full view of Mauna Kea,
the tallest mountain in the world.

In this most tranquil setting are some of the worlds most exotic plants and
flowers. Native to the islands are Ohia and rose apple trees and rivaling the
fragrant magnolias of the east we find heliconia, ginger and anthuriums. Even
the suites are a reminder of the flora of the region.

Our first stop is in the Cherry Blossom Suite. The new side room addition comes
complete with coffeemaker and complimentary native Kona coffee. As would be
expected, this room overlooks the Cherry Blossom tree as well as the fishpond
and estate garden. A colorful quilt covers the king sized bed and a matching
one is on the twin bed/sofa.

The red and burgundy decor of the Heliconia suite is reminiscent of the native
flowers and has a view of the heliconia flower nursery. Enjoy your morning
coffee in deep padded chairs around the glass top table. Even with the king
sized bed there is still enough room for just relaxing.

A comfortable queen sized bed is the centerpiece of the Lehua room. This most
calming room also offers a tranquil view of the side garden. If your sleeping
preference runs more to twin beds then the plumeria room is for you. This is a
bright and airy room with a beautiful view of the side garden.

Enhance your stay by visiting the art studio home of Jane and Linus Chao.
Stroll through the gardens or just select your favorite romance novel and have
a seat in the gazebo. 

Benner House

Victorian elegance is alive and well in Weston, Missouri. Benner House is the
former home of George Shawhan, the owner of McCormick Distillery. This elegant
home now has the spirits of romance ingrained. Built in the lovely Victorian
Queen Anne style, it is the last word in beauty and grace.

The four queen sized suites are well appointed with all the luxuries a king or
queen would ever want. Surrounded by Victorian antiques each suite is a
delightful mix of the old and the new. By all outward appearances you have
traveled back in time to the turn of the twentieth century. Then the CD/alarm
clock brings you back to the present. Neither you nor your partner will want to
leave the comfort of the big brass bed in the Garden view Suite. If the timely
elegance of oak is more in line for you, then the Riverside Suite is where you
want to be. For the truly romantic, roses adorn the Rose Balcony Suite. Relive
the old world in the Bridgewater Suite, complete with antique Iron bed.

Benner House is a two-story bed and breakfast with wrap around porches on both
levels. As you enter the first floor you are immediately enmeshed in the style
and charm of the reception area with its original, yet restored, fireplace. Go
through to the dining room and marvel at the Murano Venetian Chandelier. The
solarium has floor to ceiling windows that accent the Rattan and white wicker
furnishings. There is even a library with a large variety of reading material
and games as well as a large color television. Early risers can stroll through
the hospitality Bistro and marvel at the tin ceilings while enjoying their
morning coffee. Here you will truly see the European touch with the grapes and
wine decorations.

Averill's Flathead Lake Lodge

A family vacation beyond your wildest dreams awaits you at Averill's Flathead

Built in the neoclassical Georgian revival style, Atwood House welcomes you.
Step into the parlor and marvel at the elegance of midwestern luxury. This is a
page straight out of the days of the railroad baron's. The setting is complete
with the player piano and period furniture. The staircase is reminiscent of the
mansions built by the cattle barons, right down to the chandeliers. No visit to
the capital of Nebraska is complete without a stop at the Atwood house.

Newlyweds will be most attracted to the three-room Atwood Suite. Enjoy the
leather sofa in the living room as you relax by the fire crackling from the
real wood that it burns. In the bedroom are the three-piece walnut and marble
Victorian king-sized bed and ornate walnut wardrobe. The roman style bath
features a two-person corner heart-shaped whirlpool tub. This suite is as large
as some homes so nothing is crowded here.

The western aristocracy is well reflected in the Beals Suite. Center stage here
is the three-piece walnut tester king-sized bed. The ambience is aptly set with
the Victorian furnishings. Enter the bath and relax in the two person Jacuzzi
with handheld shower.

Located just next to the main house is the three-room Carriage suite. The
sitting room boasts a vaulted ceiling and leather queen-sized hide-a-bed. The
king-sized bed in the bedroom is located next to the French doors of the bath
that features a two-person aquatic whirlpool.

The Frank A. Little Suite has an L shaped layout that separates the bedroom
area from the living room area. The three-piece walnut bedroom set features a
high-backed carved king-sized bed. The bath area features a corner shower and
claw foot tub and pedestal sink. Sink into the rocker in the living area and
relax with your favorite magazine.

The Gilbert Inn

A romantic Queen Anne Victorian home built in 1892, the Gilbert Inn, in
Seaside, Oregon, will capture your heart and imagination at first sight. The

The Gilbert Inn is one of the few bed and breakfast establishments that offer

full breakfast.

The original Gilbert Cottage is now a "country style" suite and features a
large bedroom, sitting room and full bath. This is the 1880's Suite. Emma's
Room has natural fir ceiling and walls frame and the cherry wood four-poster
bed makes it complete. Alexander's Room features a claw-foot bathtub. The
Turret Room features old fir ceilings and walls and "turret" windows. Every one
of the other rooms also have their own unique features.

The Burn

Mr. John P. Walworth, planter, alderman, and president of Planters Bank, built
the Burn in 1834. What appears from the front to be just 1 1/2 stories tall is
actually a 3-story antebellum home. Since 1978 this historic home has been one
of the finest bed and breakfasts in Natchez, and it continues to be a central
attraction for visitors who look for comfortable accommodations in a quiet,
beautiful atmosphere.

Part of what makes The Burn a premier vacation destination is their scenery. A
shaded patio overlooks a two-acre garden, and brick walkways give way to
camellias, azaleas, dogwoods, and lots of quiet space. The waters of a full
sized pool summon one to take a cool, soothing dip before dinner.

The Burn presently has five guestrooms from which to choose. All have their own
private baths and cable TV, with access to wireless Internet and a luxurious,

Clara's Room, like The Douglas Room, is on the ground floor. It's large enough
to hold a very comfortable king size bed. The windows look out over the garden,
and the room opens to the covered patio and private courtyard.

Tall Timber Resort

Durango, Colorado, is the home of one of the best family resorts in the
country, Tall Timber Resort.

The historic Silverton train, which winds through scenic forests and canyons,
is one of only two ways to get to this hideaway. The other way is by
helicopter. The accommodations are just as inspiring as the way you arrive.
Two-story condominium units with rustic wood paneling and stone fireplaces
include three meals a day and round-trip transportation from Durango.


Besides the daily three meals, coffee is available in all rooms. Children

Sugar Beach Inn

The very geography of Florida allows it to have sandy beaches on two
oceanfronts. Sugar Beach Inn overlooks the serene waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Looking more like a southern plantation you expect to see the Grande Dame on the
veranda sipping mint Juleps. Even the sunshine state has cool evenings but with
four fireplaces, the chill is quickly dispelled. Step through the white picket
fence and observe Sugar Beach Inn's three floors decorated with the natural
foliage of the area. Upon entering the front door there are five Victorian

The luxurious four-poster is the centerpiece of the Jasmine Suite. With it's

Spencer House Bed &Breakfast is located in historical downtown Erie

home. When it was built in 1876, the Victorian home at 519 West Sixth Street
was one of the showiest homes in the city. The original woodwork is one of the
most eye-catching features of the interior, along with the 12-foot ceilings and
interior folding shutters.

Guests are invited to relax in the elegant parlor, with its beautiful fireplace
and baby grand piano, or select a good book from the well-stocked library. The

One of the most unusual bed and breakfasts is found in historic Galena,
Illinois. This is a nature lovers delight. The Wild Turkey bed and breakfast
uses a farmhouse theme. Set on 26 acres of some of Illinois most scenic land.
Flocks of wild turkeys roost in the trees surrounding the farmhouse. The
neighbors are very quiet. Sitting on the back porch you can watch the deer and
many varieties of birds that live in the abundant trees and dine from the many

On the first floor is the bluebird room. The three-piece Eastlake bedroom set
is adorned with a hand made quilt on the queen size bed. For convenience, there
is a private attached bath. Moving upstairs we find the Cardinal. One of the
more unusual features here is the fact that it can accommodate two or three
people since there is a twin bed in addition to the queen sized one. This room
is fully adorned with antiques. Like the bluebird it has a private bath just
one step outside the room. For a gorgeous view of the valley, step into the
Gold Finch room. All oak furnishings accent the queen-sized bed.

Relax on the deck or take your coffee to the screened in porch. After a hearty
breakfast, hike down to the pond and contemplate trying to catch some of the
big mouth bass or just take in the breathtaking view. For a real challenge,
there is always biking with through the hilly terrain, they even furnish the
bikes. During the summer months swimming is available at the pond or nearby is
a heated pool. This is horse country so nearby is Shenandoah riding center.

White Lilac Inn

The White Lilac Inn, built in 1880, is situated in a peaceful corner of Spring
Lake, New Jersey, just a stone's throw from Wreck Pond and four blocks from the
Atlantic Ocean. Guests can take pleasure in swimming, boating, cycling,
antiquing, golf and tennis or give up the hectic pace for quiet moments on one

Twin farms

The New England states offer many fine bed and breakfast establishments. One of

The Inn at Perry Cabin

Located in charming St. Michaels, Maryland, is The Inn at Perry cabin. This
colonial mansion is perched along Metes River, a tributary to Chesapeake Bay.
Relaxing recreation options, including sailing, golfing and riding in
horse-drawn carriages, surrounds it.

All forty-one guest rooms are each individually furnished in its own particular
theme. English and early American antiques are elegantly offset by understated,
classic Laura Ashley fabrics and wallpapers. Luxury that is comfortable and
cozy with the atmosphere conducive to rest and unwinding. All rooms feature
television, VCR and cable, as well as modem links. A full breakfast is included.

the official Christmas tree of St. Michaels. There are rooms which feature
gardens on their terraces and a kitchen garden from which the Inn's chefs
harvest fresh herbs daily. Throughout the grounds, visitors will discover a
greenhouse and several other gardens. There is even a complimentary course
given at times on how to create a lovely container garden. This is a popular
workshop.

The Homespun Inn

The Midwest is the breadbox of the world. It is also home to farmers and just
regular folk. Playing on that theme is the Homespun Country Inn located in
Nappanee, Indiana. The appearance of the all American Farmhouse is enhanced by
quarter-sawn oak in the entry and first floor common rooms. Stained glass
windows add a prism effect on sunny mornings. Each of the two parlors on the
main floor have an ongoing jigsaw puzzle or just select a book for some
relaxing reading. Making this inn unique are the guest rooms named in honor of
the original 1902 occupants.

Frank and Alma Brown's room is named after the original owners. A lavender and
sea foam green motif surround the queen-sized bed. The farmhouse look is
completed with the three drawer mirrored dresser. Also on the second floor is
Wilma Terwillinger's room.

The Browns niece's room has an adjoining private bath and a queen-size bed.
Even one of the lodgers taken in by the Brown's has earned a room. Miss
Allman's room is accented in blue. Schoolhouse memorabilia surrounds the
queen-size bed. Climbing to the third floor the Brown's granddaughter has lent
her name to Jodi's room. Apropos for a granddaughter, we find twin beds, a
private bath and a decor of mauve, blue and cream colors. Also on the third
floor is another granddaughter. Sally's room holds a queen-sized bed and a
pullout sofa. Each of the rooms is decorated with photos of the original
occupants.

Early risers are treated to coffee and flavored teas in the dining room. A full
breakfast is also served by candlelight at 8:30. Step outside and enjoy the
calming effect of the porch swing. This is Amish territory and not an uncommon
sight to see their horse and buggy's pass by. 

The Rhett House Inn

One of the most beautiful bed and breakfast establishments in South Carolina is
The Rhett House Inn, located in Beaufort, South Carolina. A film site for
several popular movies, this seventeen room, white pillared bed and breakfast
is wrapped in spacious verandas where guests can relax and take in lush garden

The beautifully restored 1820 plantation house is meticulously maintained,

This country was built as the railroads made tracks across this country. Stop

past when the railroad was king.

The Railroad Inn is a restored 1902 hotel nestled on SW Iowa Highway 48. From
the outside it appears just as it did when it was first built, thanks to some
well done restoration. Each of the four rooms is a suite. In the Colonial
bedroom is the Jacuzzi and to really feel the times there is a claw foot
bathtub in the Rembrandt room. For the folk that like to just lounge, there are
a king sized bed with a lounge chair in the Hickory room. The Victoria Suite is
for the people that like to cook their own in the kitchenette. Feast upon a
delicious breakfast then stop over to the Bradley room to lounge around a cozy
fireplace.

This is where the west starts so it is to be expected that a good murder
mystery would be a part of your visit. You can talk over the subtleties of the
selected murder mystery while enjoying the local wine tasting or for the lover
in you, the chocolate tasting.

The Landmark Inn

Tis the dream of many to spend the night in a bank. Well that opportunity has
just presented itself via The Landmark Inn, in Oberlin, Kansas. The 1886 bank
of Oberlin has been converted into the modern bed and breakfast now called the
Landmark Inn. The name even celebrates two major events, the opening of the US
land office and the founding of the bank of Oberlin. Each of the rooms
celebrates a special landmark or person in Oberlin or Kansas history. Meals are
served in the teller room restaurant.

After the bank failed, the building became the county courthouse. In honor of
this, we have the Judges Chambers Suite. Mauve, green and purple wallpaper and
curtains surround the tall walnut queen-sized bed. A Victorian settee completes
the bedroom and a claw foot tub occupies the bath.

Named after the founder of the bank, the R.A. Marks Suite has a spoon carved
queen-sized bedroom set. There is also a vintage Murphy bed. Named after the
furniture style of the room, the Cottage Victorian Suite is filled with
stenciled pine furnishings.

The antique appearing gas fireplace lends its name to The Fireside Suite. Here
we find a full sized canopy bed and a bath covered with antique advertising
items. There is also a sitting room with Victorian furniture.

The Carriage house Suite is a two-room suite with a mission style queen-size
bed. The sitting room is adorned with wicker furniture and a second pull down
bed.

The Ad Astra Suite is so named because of the state motto, "To the stars
through difficulties." Fully handicap accessible, this room is done in blues
and mauves. Finally we have arrived at the Courtyard Suite. Here we find a
queen-size antique brass and cast iron bed. There is also a two person Jacuzzi
for gentle relaxing.

The Inn of Chagrin Falls

The Inn of Chagrin Falls in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, was built in 1927. It has
transformed, yet remained much the same, with restored fountains and beautiful

furnishings the Champagne and Roses suite is ideal for the romantic side.

If your tastes run towards the classics, then Zelda's room is truly taken from
The Great Gatsby. This two-room suite features a brass queen sized bed. The
decor of rose hearts within a field of blue is found in the Hearts and Flowers
suite and is complete with the four-poster bed. Echoing our puritan beginnings,
twin four-poster double beds accent the Quilt room.

On the first floor we find the Willow Room with its white iron and brass queen
sized bed. Truly American is the Smithfield Suite with its red, white and blue
quilt on the high converted rope double bed. With wallpaper by Raymond Waites
and a collection of cottage country pine, the Harlow Suite is simple elegance.
The headboard of the queen-sized bed has painted panel insets that echo the
graceful floral motif of each corner of the room.

The Riverwind Inn provides a full complimentary country breakfast to jumpstart

Red Canyon Lodge

Red Canyon Lodge provides the amenities of now with the ambiances of an old
fashioned western Log Lodge. The accommodations all contain personal Jacuzzi
baths with shower and are warmed with forced air radiant heating. All rooms
have a great picture window with breathtaking view.

The Red Canyon Lodge has a Great Room that boasts a huge two-story masonry
fireplace, which you can sit by and take pleasure in. You can withdraw to the
library up in the loft area, which is just the thing for reading, playing board
games and puzzles or just sitting and enjoying the panoramic view.

Each morning between 8:30-9:30 am you will take pleasure in an entire country
breakfast and in the afternoons complimentary beverages and appetizers are
served in the roomy dining area. Visit the Great Room and unwind after your day
of visiting the conveniently located Southern Utah State and National parks and
monuments, nationally renowned Tony Award winning Shakespeare Theater or the
Neil Simon Festival or enjoy many events going on throughout the year in nearby
towns.

There is always something going on in the local area, including a nearby ski
resort you can visit for the day. The limited size of the Red Canyon Lodge
makes it feel like you are home, without the work that comes with being there.

Old School

The Old School Bed and Breakfast of Arnegard, North Dakota, is a unique place
to stay. It was one literally a schoolhouse. In 1963, due mainly to waning
enrollment, the county voted to close the high school. Elementary classes were
held at the school until 1976 when the school was closed for good. A small time
afterward, the building was deeded to the city of Arnegard. Some time after
that, the city deeded the building and a portion of the school grounds to a
group known as The Friends and Alumni of the Old School. During the period that
this group owned the facility, there was a roller skating rink, rural library
and meeting areas located within the building. It has undergone a great deal of
restoration and renovation for the purpose of housing a Bed & Breakfast. All
room offer a Jucuzzi whirlpool tub and Select Comfort Sleep Number beds. In
addition to the four room, Primary Grades, Lower Grades, Intermediate Grades
and Upper Grades, the Old School Bed and Breakfast offers a game room, library,
media room and reading room.

The small but intimate library contains in the neighborhood of five thousand
volumes with everything from textbooks, fiction and non-fiction dating as far
back as the late 1800's to a considerable assortment of paperback books. A good
number of the books will be available for you to read during your stay with some
of the more rare editions put behind glass for preservation. Some of these more
collectable books include all of the Dick and Jane readers along with the
teacher's editions. If you select a paperback to read and do not finish it
during your stay with please feel free take it with you and leave a twenty-five
cent donation so the inn can keep well stocked in paperbacks.
